Another challenge

This week's challenge at Pink Elephant (http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/)is a card sketch.
Of course, I couldn't resist trying this one; in fact, I may have to make more than one card using this great sketch! Here's the sketch:

And here's the first card I made (I turned the sketch sideways; never liked to follow the rules LOL).

That one was such fun that I decided to make another. Since so many of my grandkids are boys, I thought I'd make it with a more masculine theme. Here's my second attempt
with the sketch.

Pink Elephant Challenge

My friend, Robin has collaborated with another artist to create the Pink Elephant blog for fun challenges and inspiration. Their challenge this week is to use bling. I'm not normally a bling kind of gal; I tend to go more for the vintage style. But this is the card I came up with (I had an image in mind when I woke at 6 this morning LOL). I purchased these glittery and irridescent flowers from LTD. The butterfly is from the $1 section at Michael's. The background (green) paper is World Win doubles, put in a Cuttlebug folder and the embossed areas slightly sanded to bring out the color of the opposite side.

A Day for Love

Didn't we just get through Christmas?? How can it be Valentine's Day already?
Well, I thought I'd share a couple of the versions of Valentine cards that I made for my grandkids. I used print papers from DCWV Spring Pack from last year and two
Cuttlebug folders. The hearts were cut using my Slice.

And of course, I had to make one for my hubby!I used the same print papers for his.
Finally, I made a special treat for each of the grandkids. I took Hershey's Dark Chocolate candy bars and made wrappers for them using the same print papers, wrapped a piece of ribbon around the center, attached an oval which was cut with my Slice and added a Valentine sticker to the center.

I started a new tradition for Christmas three years ago. Instead of buying a lot of
gifts for the kids and grandkids (things that they play with for a couple of days and then toss aside) we take everyone (14 of us) to one of the motels with an indoor waterpark in the WI. Dells for a weekend. We rent a three bedroom condo. For the first night there I take a couple of dishes that are favorites of everyone (my barbecued wieners and ham pasta salad). Saturday night we usually go out to eat. This year we tried a new motel; the Chula Vista. Our condo was very spacious and gorgeous! Here are a couple of photos of the great room (notice the jacuzzi and fireplace).

Here is a picture of Larry and me on the Lazy River at the waterpark.

And here are some of the grandkids having a blast in the waterpark.

My birthday was last week. At my age (59!??) I can't say that I "celebrated" it; but
I'm glad they keep coming! LOL The funny thing is that my brain doesn't accept that
I'm this old! Most days I don't feel nearly 60! And I guess that's good. Especially
working with children as I do. I thought I'd share a couple pictures from my birthday. The first one is with the few kids that were here that day. We had chocolate cupcakes!

My hubby took me to a wonderful restaurant for dinner on my birthday. They are a bit
out of the way, so we don't go there often; only for special occasions. We both ordered their most popular dish which is a Chinese dish (they also serve American
food). I asked our waitress to take this picture.
