I'm an artist........

I've always thought of myself as a crafter. Some of the things I've done have
bordered art; but I never think of myself as an artist. Guess that may be because
I have many friends who are TRUE artists. They know all about the different materials that an artist uses; which inks perform best under certain conditions,
what you need to use before you start a project, what you should use to seal a
painting. I just like to play with my supplies! Well, that has changed. I have
just completed a collage on canvasboard that makes me believe there may be an
artist hiding deep down inside!
Because of the filming of the next Johnny Depp movie here in Beaver Dam and neighboring Columbus, I have made some new friends. Several of us volunteered to paint the inside of the Amtrack Station in Columbus a month ago. It had been sadly neglected; not a good first impression of the city for people arriving by train or bus. I had shown my scrapbook that I've started on the filming to several of the other volunteers and Rod Melotte (owner of PublicEnemiesColumbus blogspot) approached me to do a poster sized collage to hang in the Amtrack Station. Others
are going to hang photo enlargements. All of these items can be for sale. I had
never done anything like this before; but I was excited to try!! And I really like
the end result (and it seems everyone I've shown it to does too!) It's framed and
ready to go to it's new home in the depot at Columbus.

Flowers & Parades

I've been a little disappointed with my gardens so far this year. Only about half of our tulips bloomed, our Stargazer lilies have yet to bloom and most of the other flowering plants are very delayed. These two lily plants; which were added last year, have added a bright spot though, so I thought I'd share.

Happy Independence Day everyone! However you celebrate the 4th of July, I hope you
remember why this day is celebrated. We go to Columbus, WI. every year to see one of the best parades around! This year it lasted two hours! The weather man was kind to us this year giving us a beautiful, clear day with temperatures in the mid 70's and low humidity. What a perfect day for all of the festivities. Of course, the Color Guard started the parade off.
We had a GIANT flag!!
You have to have a giant cow when you have a parade in Wisconsin!
